Instructions for Editors
In some issues of the journal Internal Medicine, a monothematic block, included in the journal as the main topic, is prepared by a guest editor. The purpose is not to cover the entire topic, but the editor selects what from the topic will be published. The editor will ensure that the articles provide the latest information in the selected area. The main topic is not intended to be purely postgraduate in nature; the aim is to achieve the highest level of information for readers. The authors of the articles will draw on new information and follow the principles of "evidence based medicine".
The role of the editor is
- to suggest a number of articles (max. 4) that would be appropriate for inclusion in a given monothematic block. (Editorial board members can recommend, if you are interested, authors who would be suitable experts to write articles for this main theme.)
- in approaching authors and assigning topics – approach authors from at least three departments
- to carry out a first review of their articles
- writing an introduction that would unify the whole block
- if the deadline is met, send the Main Theme as a whole to the editors, who will ensure that the review process continues
As regards the scope of the whole block
- we introduce a restrictive upper limit on the number of pages, which is a maximum of 55 standard pages
- Instructions for individual authors are attached – this is also the recommended maximum length (13 standard pages)
- the introductory article should be approximately one page in the journal, which means about 3 standard pages
