Profesor MUDr. Zoltán Mikeš, DrSc. nás navždy opustil vo veku nedožitých 84 rokov dňa 9. februára 2024.

Profesor Mikeš sa narodil 20. septembra 1940 v Budapešti. Lekársku fakultu UK absolvoval v rokoch 1957–1963 a štúdium ukončil s vyznamenaním. Je symptomatické, že svoju prvú cenu získal celkom mladý, ako víťaz celoštátneho československého kola ŠVOČ, a prvé vyznamenanie ako 23-ročný pri promócii na LFUK. Avšak už počas štúdia medicíny dobrovoľne pomáhal na internej klinike u profesora Jána Gvozdjáka. Ten si vysoko cenil jeho korektnú prácu a skromné vystupovanie a prial si, aby po promócii pokračoval ako lekár v jeho kolektíve. Žiaľ, vtedajšia doba bola iná: umiestenkový systém vtedajšej vládnej moci ho poslal do Lučenca. Na internom oddelení v Lučenci pracoval v rokoch 1963–1965, keď nastupuje ako asistent na Fyziatrickú kliniku LFUK. Mal 4 atestácie: internú medicínu I a II v rokoch 1967 a 1971, fyziatriu, balneológiu a liečebnú rehabilitáciu v r. 1976 a geriatriu v r. 1991...
