První díl učebnice vnitřního lékařství patří v každé generaci ke klíčovým publikacím vzdělání mladých lékařů velkého počtu oborů. Vzhledem k velkému rozsahu oboru je problémem učebnic z posledních let buď neúměrný rozsah knihy nebo přílišná simplifikace, která komplikuje složení specializačních zkoušek v interním kmeni a neumožňuje následující využití pro vlastní ambulantní či klinickou praxi. Nová učebnice je koncipována jako kniha velmi praktická a zejména přátelská k čtenáři, text je informačně bohatý, ale stručný. Teoretické informace (patofyziologie) jsou omezeny na minimum, důraz je kladen na diagnostiku a léčbu, včetně problematiky akutních situací. Kniha je bohatě ilustrována, autoři se řídí principem, že jedna dobrá ilustrace má hodnotu desítek stran textu.
